Article taken from October 2004 GM Profit & Protection warranty newsletter
GM has developed a common service procedure across all vehicle
platforms for measurements for wheel alignments. Revisions have
been made to the time allowances for labor operations E2000
and E2020. Base times for both labor operations have been reduced,
new times are effective as of claims submitted on or after August
27, 2004, regardless of repair order date. Labor hour updates
will not be made in the labor time guide until the December
2004 release.
Changes include:
- The level and lock steering wheel steps as well as re-measurements after adjustments have been removed from the alignment allowance. The time is included in the adjustment add conditions.
- Labor operation E2020-Wheel Alignment Check and/or Adjust now pays 0.5 hours for vehicles repaired under warranty. The allowance includes alignment machine set up, tire pressure check, and wheel alignment measurement.
- The add time for road testing is 0.2 hours.
- Labor operation E2000-Toe, Front Adjust now pays 0.7 hours.
The add times for the alignment labor operation continue to be the same. Please make sure all appropriate service personnel are aware of this update to avoid unnecessary claim rejects for excessive labor hours.
We recommend that you carefully review any claim rejects for reason code EF: labor hours exceed published times, to confirm that the reduction in time allowances for these labor operations is not the cause of the reject. Both E2000 and E2020 are ADD time allowances for many major repair operations.
Remember, the time reduction is effective August 27, 2004 regardless
of repair order date.
